Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Raheem

(In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful)

Muslim Organisation of Sunshine Coast (MoSC) is the representative group of the Muslims living on the Sunshine Coast. It was conceived in late 2005 as a platform for local Muslim families to gather and practice the faith of Islam.

MoSC was formed on the principle of creating easier for Muslims to practice their faith as prescribed by Allah and demonstrated by the Sunnah (ways) of His servant, true messenger and final prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him).

It is a purely charitable organisation generating its funds via voluntary contribution of the members. Similarly, time is donated by the local Muslim community to organise the day-to-day affairs of the organisation and community prayers and gatherings.

Our membership is incredibly diverse with people from more than 40 countries being members currently or have been in the past. The organisation welcomes anyone form the Muslim faith who has taken the Shahdah (oath) that Allah is one and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His true servant and final messenger (Prophet).

MoSC has been instrumental in continually providing a place for worship for various religious obligations especially Jummah’ (Friday) prayers since it began operation. Over the years the organisation has engaged with local, statewide, and national bodies dealing with community, multicultural and multifaith issues. Some examples include the University of Sunshine Coast, local schools, Queensland Police and PCYC, The local Council, Community engagement (home affairs) and local multicultural / multifaith forums. It continues its efforts to counter the negative narrative some people have tried to generate unfortunately.

A monumental task was undertaken to build the first Masjid of Sunshine Coast in 2014. The whole community participated in this massive drive involving not only local Muslims but various other Muslims communities across Australia to achieve this goal. With the blessings from Allah the Exalted we were able to secure a suitable premise where the Masjid now exists. It provides a place not only for mandatory prayers but community meetings and gatherings as well.

The community on the Sunshine Coast continues to grow by virtue of migration and more people joining the faith of Islam. We envisage that with growing numbers of Muslims living on the coast, we would be bigger and busier.

As an organisation out aims include helping the local community understand the true meaning of Islam, spreading the message of peace that Islam brings, being the common voice of the Muslims living on the coast, providing a safe space for Muslims to practice their faith, engaging meaningfully with other organisations and community groups to bring harmony and understanding, bringing an Imam (religious leader) to the Coast, and continuing building more and more community engagement / learning  opportunities for our Muslim families.

We greet you with the Islamic greeting – As-Salamu Alaykum (May peace be Upon you).
